I have collaborated with the Damn Fine Print screen printing studio in Stoney Batter on three limited edition screen prints.
Crisscross (top) and Crossover (middle) are printed using two colours (white and grey) and repeat the same set of hand drawn elements in different configurations. The third print Arches uses 3 tones and a more precise digitally drawn geometry giving a crisper, bolder line.
Each measures 500 x 500mm on Somerset velvet paper and in an edition of 30 priced at €150 each.

The project is based around pairs of words with opposite meanings such as "life" and "death". A thesaurus was used to build a chain of words where each word is a synonym for the previous word. A slight shift of meaning occurs each time until eventually the original meaning is completely reversed i.e. "life" becomes "death". The process is continued until the original word is reached again and a loop is formed.
The original project was titled "Thesaurus Generated Word Loops" and was originally an artist's book. A selection of the loops were featured as a project in Circa Magazine in 2006. I have revisited this project recently with a view to redevelop it as an projection piece.
This has involved nesting the original loops inside each other to form a single animated graphic. The individual loops rotate so that each word moves at the same speed. However, as the circles have different diameters this necessitates a different RPM for each of the loops. The result of this is that the relative positions of the words shift as the loops rotate. The artwork is to be projected onto the floor of gallery space with a minimum diameter of 5meters. This will enable the viewer to stand in the empty space at the centre of the work.

My painting About-Face (bottom left in the image above) is featured in the group exhibition The Black and White Project which is curated by Yifat Gat for Look & Listen at Transmitter in Brooklyn, NYC.
The exhibition runs from 12th August – 11th September 2016.

A print I made for Pallas Projects is included in the show The Future is Self-Organised — Artist-Run Spaces curated by Pallas Projects at Limerick City Gallery of Art. The exhibition continues until the 15th of January so if you are in Limerick call in and have a look. It's above the TV on the left.
The print (which is pictured below) is an edition of 50 and available to purchase from Pallas Projects for just €50 which will go towards funding future shows at the gallery.

A new digital drawing I created as the first limited edition artwork produced by Pallas Projects. They will be commissioning artworks from various artists for their project Pallas Projects - Editions.

Tentamen was a group exhibition in a Georgian House at 13 North Great George's Street. Below are some images of my work and a video walkthrough of the show.
The exhibition also featured the work of Lucy Andrews, Alan Butler, Joseph Coveney, Aoibheann Greenan, David Eager Maher and John O’Connell.

This turned out to be a stubborn piece of ply and required 3 passes of the laser to fully cut through. This resulted in more orange staining (caused by smoke) then would typically be the case, though I quite like the added variation in colouring.
Creating a window drawing for Solstice as part of Cork Midsummer festival.
This is a new version of a booklet first produced in 2006. The booklet has been redesigned and some changes made to the content.
Each of these word loops takes a pair of words with opposite meanings as its starting point. A thesaurus was used to find a synonym for one of these words and then to find a synonym for that synonym and so on. Each new word suggested by thesaurus involves a slight slippage of meaning. These slippages accumulate resulting in a complete inversion of the original meaning. This process is repeated using the second word from the pair until the loop has been completed.

Out of Order is my fourth solo exhibition and my second at the Lab. The exhibition will feature a large series of small-scale paper sculptures and a complimentary series of drawings.
